Anthony (Tony) Stephenson is a highly experienced lecturer, educator, technical expert, examiner and management consultant in health and safety, quality, and environment within a wide range of industries. He has worked in Japan, USA, UK, Italy, France and Singapore. He is a Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHS 4801, ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 27001. Tony was the Founder and a Past-President of the NZ Organisation for Quality, he is a Board Member of the NZ Business Excellence Foundation and also sits on the QED Advisory Board. He is a contributor to a number of standards committees.

    Whilst the worldwide trend is now confirmed for a decreasing number of annual ISO 9001 Quality Management certifications, conversely, there has been a massive leap in the number of ISO 14001 Environmental Management certifications. Couple this with the United Nations signing an MOU to develop and promote ISO 26000 as the go to standard for Corporate Social Responsibility and there may be a case to argue that global business is growing a conscience. Where do Performance Excellence and Quality Standards sit in this trend? Are they at odds or are they complementary? Tony and Carew argue the case that in this new business atmosphere Baldrige and ISO sit well together, particularly when a business grows a corporate conscience regardless of whether it is financially or morally driven.
